Harry Jun: the 10 funniest things I have ever seen (on the Internet) | Comedy

METERMy strongest memory of the Internet is the piracy of LimeWire and Kazaa. It felt great to download CD copies of albums by Guido Hatzis and Adam Sandler’s Piece of Shit Car, but I wanted more. My friends warned me that there was a lot of porn on LimeWire and that I should be careful because I would probably download it stupidly and get into a lot of trouble. I hated being patronized. I still do. That’s why I decided to do something and fearlessly hack a TV show just to brag to my friends the next day.

I snuck over to the family computer, opened LimeWire, and searched for this random comedy starring Ryan Reynolds called Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place. By then he was practically an Internet pro, so I only wrote the first half of the title. Two boys and a girl. I clicked download. Simply put, my friends were right.

The Internet is cool, fun and scary. Here is a list of other interesting, fun and scary things.

1. Kay’s Kitchen

I’ve never seen someone be so monumentally horrible at cooking. Each video is both a work of art and a comedy gold mine. Kay is either blissfully unaware of how bad she is at cooking or she’s an Andy Kaufman-level comedic genius. It’s one thing for rice to be too dry or too sticky, but Kay somehow manages to burn a risotto until it’s crispy and blackened. In the end, she has Lee’s son rate her food and the way he bites into this risotto makes me laugh every time.

2. She looks a bit like Bella Ramsey

The more I look at the image this tweet refers to, the more I laugh. Doesn’t it add anything to the social commentary that the original image is obviously trying to encourage, but at the same time it does? Obliquely? I don’t know. Let’s not dissect this frog. She looks a bit like Bella Ramsey.

3. Graeme Barrett

Graeme Barrett is a very good character comedian. He shows that he has spent hundreds of hours hanging out with the type of people he portrays. I also love the effort he puts into these sketches. I have nothing against low-effort, churn comedy. I have a group of friends whose careers were built on it. Do what you have to do. On the other hand, it’s always great to find accounts like Barrett’s that highlight a little enthusiasm, whatever that means.

4. Beavo

Beavo never fails to make me laugh. First of all, he’s a British food influencer, which is already hilarious. Plus, he basically eats the same foods. His food will almost always include chips, because he is British. Another thing I love are his phrases. He will constantly say, “Magnify the ______.” He tries to compliment the food’s country of origin, but he’ll be too broad or just plain wrong.

For example, eat any dish that contains rice and say, “Make Asians proud.” Or he’ll eat Nandos and say, “Make Asians proud.” My favorite slogan is, “You know the rules, and if you don’t know them, know them.” The cool thing is that Beavo has never set the rules, so it’s fun to jump into the comments and watch people try to guess them. Things like:

Rule 1: Don’t chew. Swallow food immediately.

Rule 2: Ketchup on everything.

Rule 3: No matter what you eat, hot chips have to be part of the meal.

Rule 4: Magnify everything and anything.

Anyway, big up Beavo and big up Asians.

5. Redfern Electricity

John Cruckshank and Luke Smith are at it again. His mockumentary Redfern Electrical follows a semi-fictional version of Cruckshank as a comedian turned electrician. He is a little poor but has a great plan to make some money. Cruckshank has a comedic brain that you can enjoy and envy and I can’t wait for the next episode.

6. The wheel of not your destiny

God, I love webcomics and Elder Cactus is one of the best. Sometimes you read or hear phrases that stay in your head forever. Because of this comic, one of mine is “inexplicably and aggressively into Japanese culture.”

7. The Ludacris Proximity Sadness Meter

You know the six degrees of Kevin Bacon, right? Where is anyone in film connected to Kevin Bacon by six steps or less or whatever? Yeah, whatever, that’s boring and unrelatable. The Ludacris Proximity Sadness Meter is fantastic because it really works. I’m despondent and Ludacris is nowhere to be found.

8. Mandatory entertainment

I love comedy sketches and the fact that they are done by a group of local legends makes me love them even more. The core creative team (Eric Hutton, Mariel McClorey and Laura Hughes) did a fantastic job creating something fun but also deeply Australian and weird as hell.

9. Carolina Baniewicz

There are plenty of videos making fun of podcasts, but this one is particularly silly. As with most TikToks, the comments section adds extra laughs, like a sweet treat after dinner.

10. Jenny Tian – How I lost my native language

What I like most about Jenny Tian is how her approachable demeanor can disguise her sharp and brutal wit. I’m not saying Jenny is a bad person at all, but rather when happy and kind people like Jenny say something ruthless, it’s much more satisfying. Eat this clip and then watch the rest of their one-hour special.
